Australia’s Skilled Migration Program - JULY 2011

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) will introduce a new Points Test for Australia’s Skilled Migration Program from 1 July 2011.

Significant changes are:

•the introduction of bonus points for applicants aged 25 – 32 years
•an increase in required English language levels
•emphasis on skilled work experience

Applicants applying for the GSM will have to face a range of new eligibility criteria and would have to pass the new points test designed to target those who are most closely suited to Australia’s needs.
